Launched in October 2013, Mavericks is the latest iteration of OS X that ditches the big cat names (in favour of places in California) but adds functionality and features to the operating system. Maps, AirPlay Display, an evolved Finder, Tags and a number of changes under the bonnet--such as Timer Coalescing, App Nap, Compressed Memory and Safari Power Saver--see a major evolution of the the operating system that runs on your Mac.
